Training sessions occur on various week day evenings on the hockey pitch during the winter season. Training also stop for a few weeks over the Christmas period.

Matches

Adult league matches occur on Saturdays at various times during the winter season. Matches are played both home and away. Details of timings and locations are available on this website and via the Pitchero Club app.

For home games, players are normally asked to meet at the pitch 45 minutes before the start time for a warm-up and to discuss tactics.

For away games, we arrange a meet time in the coach park at Wellsway School. The time for this is calculated to allow for travelling time to get to the away pitch 45 minutes before the start time. People will often share car lifts and we ask that members offer to contribute to fuel costs. Some prefer to go direct to the away pitch without meeting at the school.

After match teas are provided by the home team. For home games, this occurs at Keynsham Cricket Club which is our clubhouse. Match teas will vary but generally will be some hot food such as sausages and chips (vegetarian option will normally be available). There is no additional cost for this since this is covered by your match fee.

Matches for our mixed team are on Sundays during the winter season. There are no match teas are mixed games, though often some of the players go to have a social drink somewhere.

During the summer season, matches take place on various weekday evenings, Mondays through Thursdays. There are no match teas after summer matches.

Where is Keynsham Cricket Club?

The cricket club is about 5 minutes walk from the hockey pitch.

If you want to walk, you should exit the main gates from Wellsway School onto what is Chandag Road. Turn left along Chandag Road for about 50m before turning right down Kennett Road. Walk to the end of this road (about 100m) at which point the cricket club ground will be right in front of you and you'll be on Welland Road. To get into the ground, turn left along Welland Road for about 50m at which point you'll find a pedestrian gate into the ground. Go though the gate and you'll see the clubhouse in the corner of the ground.

If you prefer to drive, you should exit the main gates from Wellsway School onto Chandag Road. Turn right and drive to the mini-roundabout on Bath Road. Take the first exit past the petrol station until you reach a second mini-roundabout with the New Inn pub in front of you. Again take the first exit up the Wellsway road. About 200m up the road, go through the pedestrian crossing and, about 50m afterwards, look for a blind turn left in the cricket club.

There is usually plenty of parking, either immediately through the gates or along the drive to the clubhouse. During the winter, please avoid parking on the grass.
