1. Introduction

KHC Academy is for children aged between 5 and 16.

New players can start at any time of the season and often do. The season officially start in September, so that is the best time to join, but it's not essential.

It doesn't matter whether they have played hockey or another sport before. The best age to start is in school year 3 or 4, but we get children starting at all ages from 5 up to 16.

We are very happy for players to come for a couple of weeks prior to joining so that they can find out whether they want to join.

Our Academy is run by Richard May, our Chair of Academy, supported by our experienced club coaches and our team managers. If you have any queries, please contact Richard via academy@keynshamhockey.club.

Membership fees

The Academy membership fee is £75. This covers all training sessions during the winter season (school terms 1-4) and match fees on top of this. For children in school year 9 or older, please see the separate page about transition to adult hockey. If your child is ready to play adult hockey, they will want to pay the £60 membership fee (instead of the £75 level) and then play match fees (currently £3 a match) when playing in adult matches. (Academy matches remain free of charge.)

All fees are paid online via our website (Pitchero).

Keynsham Hockey Club is Clubmark Certified which confirms that our club is safely run. You will find copies of our Club Policies elsewhere on this website.
