4. Equipment and Kit

Team Kit

Our club kit follows the club colours of navy blue and yellow and can be purchased directly from the club:

  • Shirts: Blue, yellow and white with logo and your club number on the back
  • Skirts, Skorts or Shorts: Blue (you can use an unbranded item if you prefer)
  • Socks: Blue, yellow and white hoops

All members playing league hockey require a unique number. The Membership Secretary will allocate you a shirt number.

Ordering Kit

Orders for team kit and various other items can be purchased via the shop on this website. Please be aware that there will often be a delay in fulfilling orders. Where we have stock, items will be passed onto you within a week or two. Where orders require back-ordering, the delay may be as much as a month. We always let members know when the next order will be placed and this normally happens 3 or 4 times per season.

Essential Equipment

In addition to the team kit, you will need the following items:

  • Stick: An essential piece of equipment for all players. If you’re new, we can borrow a stick from us.
  • Astro Trainers: Suitable for playing on artificial turf (you can probably get away with normal trainers when the pitch is dry, but we recommend you get a proper pair as soon as possible otherwise you will end up slipping over a lot!)
  • Shin Pads: To protect your lower legs. Hockey shin pads cover your ankles, so are different to football shin pads. For younger academy players, a cheap pair of football shin pads is fine.
  • Gum Shield: For dental protection during play.

These items cannot be purchased via our shop on this website.

If you have any questions or need advice on purchasing these items, please speak to someone in the club. Almost everyone will be able to provide some guidance and recommendations on what to buy.

Where do you recommend buying equipment?

We are fortunate to have two local traditional sports shops and would encourage you to support them if you can. Both of these stock a wide range of hockey equipment and will give you the opportunity to try out the equipment prior to purchase. The shop assistants are often hockey players so will be able to give you help.

There are also lots of online stores which specialise in hockey equipment. One we recommend is cricket-hockey.com which has a physical store near Salisbury. If you're a goal keeper, they are great since they have a full range of kit for you to try on.
