1. About the club

Keynsham Hockey Club is a relatively new hockey club which was re-constituted from Fry's Hockey Club which was established for nearly 100 years in Keynsham.

Fry's Hockey Club was based at Fry Club on the Somervale site for Fry's, then Cadbury's before it closed in 2012. Hockey was played at the site from the 1920’s when the Fry's chocolate factory reputedly had more than 15 ladies teams.

By the 1970's the club had shrunk to only two ladies' teams whose games were played only as friendlies on a Saturday using a grass pitch. Since then we have grown to our present structure of three ladies' teams, two men's team, a mixed team and various U18 teams.

The men's section was formed in 2005 and expanded to include a 2nd XUI in 2010.

Keynsham Hockey Club, as Fry's did beforehand, maintains a close working relationship with Wellsway School, where we play our home games, and is a member of the Keynsham and Saltford Sports Network (KSSN). Our clubhouse is at Keynsham Cricket Club which is just a stone's throw from the pitch. We are committed to encouraging young people to take up hockey and have a thriving Academy section for boys and girls aged 11 to 18. The Academy provides a great way of being active, meeting new people and learning how to be a member of a team.

We pride ourselves in being a friendly and welcoming club whose aim is to bring to the community a club offering hockey to all ages and abilities at very affordable costs. We welcome players of all ages and abilities through our range of teams.
