Training
Training starts from Wednesday 6th September from 6.00pm for the Academy and (for this week only) from 7.30pm for a mixed adult training session.  From the following week, men's training will be at 7.00pm and ladies' at 8.00pm until Christmas.

New members are very welcome.  It doesn't matter if you've never played hockey before or if you haven't played since school.  Hockey is very easy to pick up again.  Please come along.  The minimum you need to bring are sensible clothes to run around in.  Ideally you'd have some shin pads and you can borrow a hockey stick while you decide if you like hockey.  You don't have to pay for the first week or two while you decide.  For information about membership fees - details are here.

Umpiring News
England Hockey have removed the requirement for all Level 1 umpires to complete a 3 match card.

As some of you will know, EH have also amended the Red Card and Match Day Misconduct Offence Regulations in that a player receiving a red card for a minor offence having already received a yellow card for the same type of offence is no longer suspended for a minimum of 16 days but misses the rest of the game in which the red card is issued.  Umpires will still need to fill in a "Red Card Form" and send it to the applicable County Disciplinary Officer. More details are enclosed in the FAQs document attached along with a current Red Card Form and Disrepute form. For those of you who find it difficult to sleep at nights the full regulations can be found on the England Hockey website.

Club short listed for Wesport "Club of the Year" award
The Celebration of Sport Evening was a formal evening hosted by Silver Olympic Medallist and World Recorder holder Colin Jackson. 19 of our members attended the evening, which was by far the biggest representation from any club there.

We had members from both the men's and women's sections as well as the Academy, as with all club events there was high club spirit shown by all. The evening was dedicated to celebrating people and clubs involved in making the West of England sport network who make sport happen.

The Club was short listed for "Club of the Year" in recognition of a sports club who has shown significant development over the year, by increasing opportunities and/or developing its participants or workforce, making a contribution to the local community or gaining or maintaining accreditation.

We were up against tough competition from Longwell Green Football Club and Team Bath Netball Club. We were honoured to be runners up in this category as it shows just how hard we have all been working to develop our club and secure its future in Keynsham. Congratulations to Team Bath Netball Club who were the winners of this category.
